The Chronicles of Merlin

What if Merlin, the famous wizard from the Arthurian legends, was actually a real person and, not only that, is still around today?

This short story speculates that Merlin does in fact exist and is alive and well, residing somewhere in the British Isles. A young student of magic has sought him out in the quest for knowledge and a short transcript of their conversation follows. As might be expected, Merlin is a somewhat crotchety old man (you would be too if you managed to live for over fifteen hundred years!) but there is still a last remnant of the wisdom, majesty and power of the Arthurian age in him. This is the first chapter of the story of his life, told in his own words.
